Parking Mode

Parking peace of mind with 222 Dash Cam

The Nextbase 222 Dash Cam doesn’t just keep you safe when driving, it also monitors your vehicle when parked. Intelligent parking records any bumps or movements that may occur when you’re not around. Your 222 Dash Cam will record the bump so you’ll know exactly when and where your car was hit. Your car will remain secure with the added layer of protection provided by your dash cam security system.

G Force Assistance

G-Force assistance

The 222 Dash Cam provides G-Force assistance. This system works as soon as you turn off your vehicle. Your Dash Cam will automatically switch into parking mode by shutting down everything except the G-force sensor. The sensitivity of the G-force sensor increases, detecting any contact or bump.

If the G-force assistance registers movement, your Nextbase Dash Cam will automatically switch on, record for 30 seconds, and switch off again. This means your Dash Cam can record any incident that may take place effectively, so you can use it to contact the police or claim on your insurance.

Wide Viewing Angle

140 Degrees

140 Degrees

Capture your surroundings with the 222 Dash Cam

See more of the road with a Nextbase 222 Dash Cam model. Typically, entry-level Dash Cams capture videos with a viewing angle of 120 degrees, but the 222 is a step up. The viewing angle on this Dash Cam increases to 140 degrees, meaning you can capture more detail on each side, including pavements and road signs.

You could be tempted to choose a camera with an even wider angle if this is the case, but there is a sweet spot. A wider viewing angle would allow you to see more of the road, but the cars in front of you then become distorted. For a high-quality lens with a clear image, 140 degrees is one of the best options.

Loop Recording

What is loop recording on a 222 Dash Cam?

Loop recording on a 222 Dash Cam allows the model to continuously record, even if the SD memory card reaches full capacity. When the SD card in the Dash Cam has reached full capacity, it will overwrite older files. As soon as you turn your Dash Cam on, the continuous loop will begin, which means it’s always recording.

If you are involved in an incident, to protect useful files from being overwritten, the G-Sensor will activate, preventing this from happening. The 222 model also allows you to manually save files by pressing the File Protect button. This means any clips you might need for insurance purposes will be locked on the card to send to your insurer.

Whilst footage is stored in a loop, the recordings will be sorted into manageable segments of around 3 minutes. This means files will be easy to download and transfer should you need them.

At some point, usually around once a month, you’ll need to format your SD card. This simply means deleting any files that have been saved so that you no longer need to free up space. You can format your card easily by setting your Dash Cam up to delete all files, including files you may have protected in the past.

Wide Dynamic Range

Bright and clear images with the Dash Cam 222

Wide dynamic range processes images to ensure clear recordings in bright and dark light. This allows the Dash Cam to combine multiple images at different levels of brightness to create one superior image.

Having a wide dynamic range means your Nextbase 222 Dash Cam can record more detail in areas with contrasting light. This means an ability to distinguish important features and shapes more easily. This can be particularly useful when viewing number plates at night, which can be tricky as they’re reflective. WDR can help solve this issue by improving the quality and clarity of an image.

WDR captures more detail by taking multiple frames at different contrasts. The Dash Cam then combines them to create one enhanced image. This practice provides the best image possible whether it’s in direct sunlight or under harsh street lights — your Nextbase 222 Dash Cam has you covered.

G-Sensor

What is the 222 Dash Cam G-Sensor?

The G-Sensor is an accelerometer that registers values based on the amount of force applied during an impact. This value will be set by the 222 Dash Cam’s firmware when it’s installed. When the pre-set value is reached – for example, if a car drives into you — your Dash Cam recording will automatically be protected, as it recognises this as an incident, and therefore protects your footage.
What is the 222 Dash Cam G-Sensor?
The G-Sensor within your Dash Cam 222 can also be triggered by other factors such as potholes on the road, heavy acceleration, braking or speed bumps. Your settings can be adjusted depending on your driving environment, or if you find too many files are being protected by the G-Sensor. Calibrate your Dash Cam 222 sensor via the video menu option - choose varying sensitivities from high, medium, low, or off.

What are the benefits of a Dash Cam 222 sensor?

There are a few benefits that come with having a built-in G-Sensor within your Dash Cam. One of the most obvious is that if your vehicle is involved in an incident, the footage will become protected automatically — no need to worry about it being overwritten.

High Dynamic Range

Clarity in all conditions with the 222 Dash Cam

High dynamic range — also referred to as HDR — sets about improving the contrast in an image whilst allowing for clarity and quality. HDR in the 222 Dash Cam improves the image quality captured by enhancing the colour and increasing brightness. This Dash Cam works by taking multiple images at different exposures to give the best results.

High dynamic range allows for greater detail to be captured whilst you are driving. This means your Dash Cam will capture number plates, signage, and your surroundings whilst on the road.
